The storm and the accompanying floods in July of this year left widespread damage in Germany and neighboring countries.
In Germany alone, over 220 people lost their lives as a result. Especially in NRW and Rhineland-Pfalz, the devastation was and still is great. Many people are currently without homes and all their belongings have fallen victim to the flood disaster.
Twelve deaths have been reported at the Lebenhilfe Ahrweiler facility in Sinzig, people with impairments who could not be helped due to the rapidly rising floodwaters on the night of the storm on July 15th. The facility in Pestalozzistraße was completely destroyed.
Lebenshilfe has asked for support to rebuild the facility for people with disabilities.
We - the staff of Gutehoffnungshütte Radsatz GmbH and the Company Management – decided to support this concrete project for the weakest in our society. In a donation campaign 2.110,-- € were donated by the employees. Management has increased this amount to 5.000,-- € and transferred the sum to Lebenshilfe.
We hope that Lebenshilfe Ahrweiler will soon be able to resume its activities.
